Ben Guidry

I was born in northeastern Louisiana. 57 minutes from Crossett,Arkansas and 77 miles from Vicksburg,Mississippi. I reckon that exact geographical location bares some sort of importance on who I grew up around and how I was raised. And then that sorta draws up the blueprint of what my music sounds like. But I think being brought up in a home where music was both present and accessible had more to do with that. The pop music my mom would listen to and the newer jazz or whatever instrumental music my dad played,laid a foundation for what I sound like. Sometime in my early twenties,I moved to Nashville. And for the next 20 years I played every country song you can think of,twice. Those gigs and those songs helped build the house on top of a foundation of influence. It was all tied together with bass guitar strings and worn out tires. All it needed was a roof. That was built,shingle by shingle,one heartbreak after another…the only way country music can really be written. I used to think I wanted a time machine to go back and fix things that I thought I had messed up. But after forty odd years,I now know it’s better to put it all in a time capsule of sorts. A record of events. My name is Ben Guidry and these songs are recollections and stories from my life. They are based on fact and told in truth. They are and I am. Bonafide.
